[Without a second thought, Nancy pushes some of the snacks and clutter aside, making room for the first aid kit. Something clatters to the floor -- she doesn't see what it is, and right now, she doesn't care. Her hands work frantically, but her eyes are on Mike the entire time, awaiting his answer. His excuse earns an unconvinced scoff, and she stares at him incredulously, lips pursed.]
In a car! [Her hands stop, she shakes her head, unable to believe what he's telling her.] Mike, you don't know how to drive!
[Mrs. Byer's words to Nancy ring in the back of her head: be a little kinder to him, okay? And yet, she's just so upset. She's upset with him for getting behind the wheel and upset at him for making excuses. Even as she raises her voice, she's gently moving to place her hands upon his shoulders.]
Keep your back straight and tilt your head forward. [Her voice softens, taking on a disappointed tone.]
